Speed

This idea I want to create images that show the force of speed, so mainly something acting on an object as a result of speed, for instance the impact of wind on a fast traveling object, or the result of mud on a fast turning wheel for example.

This image clearly shows movement, and speed of the car. The main effect that makes this obvious is the snow, which is being risen as a result. There is also nice soft contrasts across the white mountain and shows, especially in the background.

This image highly supports the concept I was trying to make below, the truck is clearly in focus whist the background motion blurs and shows it's movement, as well as the areas around it. I like the different colours and details blurred out in the background of this photo, and how clearly the truck is in focus. The photo is also bright and the colours are presented well.

I like this photo as it really shows the aftermath of a muddy car as a result of travelling high speed. The details and textures show the motion of the car as there

These are some test images of cars that I took. What I aimed to capture was the car in sharp, still focus whilst the background is blurred, showing the motion.

This photo is quite interrupted by a secondary car, and is slightly too dark from the high shutter speed of 1/200. The car appears out of focus whilst the background is in and there is not much evidence of fast movement or speed here.

This photo is slightly better, as the car appears more obvious as the subject. There are still several interruptions but they could possibly be cut out. The photo doesn't really show any motion, the car is only slightly blurred on the wheels.

I was more happy with this photo, as the car was in focus whilst the background started showing motion blur. It was starting to show the speed of the car. The photo is slightly dark and quite out of angle too being sloped reducing the effect and reality. This was most likely caused by moving the camera with the car as it passes, to make it appear sharp in the photo.

This shot i was happy with, the car is in focus whilst everything else is presenting the motion blur well, which shows the car was moving at a speed. The photo is also not too dark, it was taken at a slightly lower shutter speed of 1/125, allowing more light to pass the shutter.

This was the same shutter speed as the photo above, but this time the car is slightly out of focus and the background is sharp in focus. Unlike the photos above which have the same occurrence, this photo explains the motion pretty well through the car being blurred, the addition of people walking also help to present the speed better too. There's also sunlight which gives the photo better contrast and colours.

With these images I wanted to create a light trail effect from passing cars, using a low shutter speed. This presents speed and motion in a strong, also exaggerated way, as looking at these light trails seem as if the object was moving really fast, when actually it could have just been normally.

Here i wanted to create trails of light from low shutter speeds, at night. In both of these photos I have used a low shutter speed of around 1/10 of a second. The results were good, there was strong focus and colours in the photos, also of course light trails passing through. I liked the details of the nearby petrol station, blending in with the night and the movement of the light trail itself.

The same idea as the photo above, but looking in the opposite direction. I liked the result of this photo, not only is the light trails well presented, but everything is sharp in focus and the overall colours from lighting appeared more as they did when i was physically in the place. The photo above is lightly more 'red' which I don't find as effective as the nicer colours in this photo. This photo is also taken at a level angle, not being sloped like the one above.
